The event is played basically like a large-scale two-phase tournament, and by large-scale I mean it is actually four separate tournaments for each game. In the Shop Preliminaries on November 23 (Games Day), each participating shop will have one winner per game entering the Bloc Finals on December 21, which the champion of each game will emerge in each bloc.
Overall tournament layout.
Other dates to note include a still-indeterminate early-October time where the online competitor signup begin. The songs (crossover ports and brand new ones) will be added in, again, two different phases: The Shop Preliminary songs will be added on October 29, and Bloc Finals songs on November 23. Between the dates of addition and the tournaments participants are encouraged to practice well with the new songs and their charts.
Dates and workflow for AOU, shops and competitors.
The newsletter ends with a small, for-reference-only teaser about a future rhythm game tournament for JAEPO 2015 (Japan Amusement Expo), using the four games again. We are going to leave it at this with a pinch of salt, at least until the JAEPO 2015 site has come up (not until November) and more concrete announcements are found.
