Like last year, we are going to celebrate the anniversary with another Taiko related event, but let's focus on this week's featured song first.

ds3opThe Taiko Time blog started in late July 2010, and the first thing aquabluu scheduled to post were the skeleton of the various menus you see now in the side, and the complete songlist of Taiko DS3, the latest addition to Taiko no Tatsujin at the time. So, it just seems appropriate that we should spend this anniversary talking about its theme song!
Dororon! Youkai Daikessen's theme song, named Dororon Girl, sums up perfectly what the game's Story mode is about: a charming voyage all over the regions and cities of ancient Japan to restore peace and harmony by beating monsters (youkai) in battles of rhythm. The song is composed by Oogami Masako (大上昌子) - father of most of Taiko no Tatsujin's theme songs - and it's the first Namco Original sung by Asami Shimoda (下田麻美). Shimoda is most known for providing the voice to the twin Vocaloids Kagamine Rin and Len (both Shimoda and Rin/Len are involved in singing Wanya World on Taiko PSP DX), but she does have a career outside of Vocaloid, being the seiyuu for several anime shows and the vocals for many songs, even within Namco, like this one and Agent Yoru o Yoku, an Idolm@ster song.
Unlike the previous two DS theme songs (Kimi ni Touch and Nanairo Harmony), Dororon Girl still has not been included in any arcade. It has a low BPM with lots of clusters, following the music closely and providing a valuable Oni 7* challenge, though it would probably have been downgraded on today's aggressive difficulty standards.
