Song of the Week! 5 June 2021

You know what's next and so do we: a look back to the roaring sounds of Eurobeat music! Venture forth and hear something more about the surroundings of a track whose genre in Taiko was formerly a Variety exclusive...

Namco Taiko Blog (June 4th, 2021) - Taiko de Time Travel pt.4: 90's Super Eurobeat

Etou of the Taiko Team really outdid himself this time around by advancing the latest Namco Original song serialization to a month's beginning in contrast to the former entries getting on the latter end instead!

As in the past, an official blog entry was made to introduce the track with its creators, so that we can start talking about it on this very post while saving the rest of the currently-palpable trivia to our next Song of the Week feature later in the day.

Twitter Snippets (2021/06/04): Super Eurobeat on Beat Extension

With the previous Taiko de Time Travel entry added pretty late into the month to coincide with the Summer 2021 Rewards Shop, this month's entry (1990's Super Eurobeat featuring Tatsh) came surprisingly early. The track, made in collaboration with virtual singer musica and rapper Parc Manther (of Nanshiki Globe fame), will join Nijiiro ver. tomorrow (2021/06/05). The accompanying post with interviews with the three is also on the Namco Taiko Blog.

Meanwhile, in response to Donders' and Producers' widespread requests (especially from the unfortunately pandemic-stricken locales), the ongoing Idolm@ster 15th Anniversary Collab will be extended for three more weeks to 2021/06/30, instead of the original end of next Monday (2021/06/07).

[NS1] A First out of the Mouse's Vault: Nintendo Switch Version's June 2021 DLC

Possibly one of the best DLC drops for Taiko no Tatsujin Nintendo Switch Version in terms of proportion of debuts, all 7 tracks for the month are at least console debuts, and more than half are series debuts.

While Taiko no Tatsujin has not been a stranger to Disney's animation influences, it is the first time where their live-action arm becomes playable. Also a first, BEASTAR's latest opening theme also opts to have the name of the single as the in-game subtitle.

Individual DLC Tracks: 2021/06/10 (150 yen+tax each)

The second part of the May 2021 update to Nijiiro ver. features the return of Ranking Dojo and the season change for the Don Medal Shop. One day late on our part, here is our First Video look at the two newcomer.

Amber Light inherits jazz-infused vibes from predecessors Sports Digesdon and junction by the same hands, and bar-line avoidance principle similar to that in Comona (only 5 bar lines out of 63 has notes on it). While the music is of 126BPM, the in-game data have set double BPM with half scroll speed to accommodate the apparent 48th triples.

Full Combo Title (Oni): Intersecting Amber Lights (交差する琥珀色の光)

Swiftly used as the 3rd track for Tenth Dan (surprise, surprise), 4+1 no Sorezore no Mirai takes similar notes of the previous anniversary-celebrating Namco Original/Vocaloid song Hatsune Miku no Shoushitsu -Gekijouban- by the same creator. The boosted 255-BPM speed makes the notechart formidable without having to tap into 24th notes or higher. Notecharter steμ also slipped a little quote of Taiko Roll at the beginning.

Full Combo Title (Kantan): Walking Forward, Tapping on the Hand (手を叩きながら歩いていこう)
Full Combo Title (Futsuu): Walking Forward, Singing the Songs (歌いながら歩いていこう)
Full Combo Title (Muzukashii): Walking Forward, Supporting Each Other (支え合いながら歩いていこう)
Full Combo Title (Oni): Walking Forward, Encouraging Each Other (励まし合いながら歩いていこう)

Outside of our newcomers, there are also Full Combo Titles for the other two non-debut shop tracks:
  • Don-chan Ondo: Let's Dance to the Don-chan Ondo (どんちゃん音頭で踊ろうよ)
  • Bokura no Mae ni Michi wa Aru: A Path to the Future Seized by Ourselves (自分でつかむ未来への道)
