Taiko Time's Drumvent Calendar the 3rd!

The final month of the year is here once more. Just like in recent years, it doesn't matter what one wants to celebrate along its lines -Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanza, the ever-elusive December birthdays and anything inbetween- as we're tiding the wait around here with a returning side-actuvity of ours: the Drumvent Calendar!

Once per day, this page will be updated with one 'dream pick' among songs suggested by the kind residents in our Discord server, songs that are deemed to be Taiko-worthy by each of their respective requesters that will have some of its secrets unfolded, in the style of our Song of the Week/Song Series Showcase articles. There's gonna be a new daily pick up until December 24th, but who knows if there's room for something more at the end...

For the time being, sit back with refreshments of your choice at hand and let us delve once again inside many a Donder's Taiko-aimed lucid dreams...

Song of the Week! 14 December 2024

Seeing as last December we already got a Saturday feature in conjunction with a related request for our ongoing Drumvent Calendar blog event (see here) and that we might occur a similar scenario this year, I tried to do a cheeky thing and write in advance a piece about a song based on one of Namco's oldest arcades among the 16-bit era models, in anticipation of an eventual Saturday draw of the wheel for it.

Problem is, that particular Drumvent song was already drawn (and yesterday, at that!). At this point, we might as well talk about the song inspired from the same game that actually made it into Taiko gaming...

Twxttxr Snxppxts (December 13th, 2024) - 2024's Final Polling Round for Upcoming Songs

Often times across the Nijiiro Version firmware line's tenure, game center-affine Donders were polled by the Taiko Team via anonymous questionairs as a reference for eventual future song inclusions. We've got another of these online, but this time around everyone's invited to vote!

From today until December 27th, you can hop onto one of the following language-affine Quesant forms to write down the name of one/more song/s per genre you'd like to see on Nijiiro Version arcades in the future! As usual, these questionairs are made just as a way to gauge a "general-idea" reference pool and as such, votes are not binding to the final outcomes nor they'll be subject to public reveals of sorts.

Below are all the relevant Quesant poll links, with the latter three taken from an entry from the official General Asia ver. Facebook page:

A quick catch-up post to the latest Namco Taiko Blog about last week's livestream is in order, not only for blog coverage per-se but also for a tidbit we forgot to parse in our image-based coverage.

In a nutshell, the Taiko no Tatsujin franchise's upcoming 24th anniversary will be welcomed by a number of features, first and foremost including three new Ranking Dojo Gaiden courses which are based on Nijiiro Version's second tenure year. Expect to see these three in the coming months!

Song of the Week! 7 December 2024

So it's December, bringing along the reoccurring trend of seasonal festive tunes being repeatedly etched into many people's head with varying degrees of 'acceptance' according to its listeners.

While we don't have any more of such period-linked tunes to fester one's memories, we're surely not lacking in the earworm-worthy popular songs in the general Japanese scene to talk about, either!
