telesc (Kasou Genjitsu no Telescope)
One of the winners from the Faith Creation contest edition of 2021 to be gifted an Ura Oni setting after the World Championship 2024's ending, Kasou-Genjitsu no Telescope (lit. 'Telescope of Virtual Reality') is the Taiko-debuting work from the nicknamed deli. (Twxttxr; personal website), a self-professed "artist of irregular time signatures" who often tags along for collaborative musical works with Retropolitaliens member Dadako.
The composer's Taiko debut is achieved by one's lone efforts though, with the same Etou explaining in greater lengths why a charming song that is capable to leave a refined and sad impression on its players like this one was selected in the intended original year for the latest major Taiko no Tatsujin arcade tournament. Winning at a competition requires a great deal of multilayered efforts to go towards that goal; it goes without saying that a constant training regimen plays the lion's share, but Etou also argues of the effort that it takes to stay focused towards the entire process, from the event's announcement to all the steps leading a player to take the stage against other competitors. It's due to this climate that this song was chosen, as a way to 'color' the (originally-intended) tournament song pool in a way that reflects one's ideal version of oneself, leading up to facing up against a hard and competitive challenge.
Kasou-Genjitsu no Telescope was featured in the first album of deli. under his "Die Ellipse" alias: 2022's Alcatraz Heaven (アルカトラズヘイヴン), with the track being included as an exclusive for all physical-CD printings of said album. At this point in time, we already know of deli. managing to be one of the few returning-winners in the Nijiiro-era contests with the song Caramel Junkie, but he tried in 2024 as well with a couple of songs starring the aforementioned Dadako as the singer: Something-a-mazing! and MagicPencil, with neither making it past judges and general-user voting online. While we don't know if those have won Taiko Team honorable mentions yet, we can already say they've achieved quite the music gaming win this year: one of the Konami Arcade Championship song slots for the 2024 edition, with the track titled ØverwriteTheCatastrophe.
The high basic BPM value of the song is more than often enough to mold around hard charts without resorting to the popular burst of 1/24 spike charting of recent times, seeing how at that pace even the usual 1/16 signature is more than enough... but for the newly-added Ura set, the extra mile is walked on thanks to the seemless 1/12-into-1/24 stream sequences that often times manage to be the easiest things to miss, while still having an optimal read of the situation the entire time! Not to mention its pretty generous note count- we're about 30 notes less from the max notecount of things like BLAZING VORTEX Ura, after all!
