aloft (Aloft in the wind)
If there's something we could take away from the first Nippon Columbia-powered Taiko song contest is that a winning tune doesn't necessarily need to become a breeding ground for a nightmarish notechart in order to have a shot into one of the winning seats
Brought to us by the nicknamed Qutabire (Twitter; YouTube), Aloft in the Wind is the artist's sole try on the contest accepting grounds to date, managing to receive SueP's thumbs-up due to the liveliness that lends well to a "refreshing windy theme",suiting the needs of both its own title and a music game tune to boot. Flashforward to this year and the artist would also receive a warm welcome from Rayark's Deemo II, bringing over the songs Clouds clear and... in addition to the track windmolen that was added just last month! Years prior, Qutabire was also spotted on NoxyGames' Lanota with his own Ungai Souten. Our own Aloft in the wind, alongside this one Lanota song, was extended in late 2022 for Qutabire's first solo album, Starry Avenue.
It's an high-speed track, sure, but the plain charting with stanza repetitions is sure to make players coast by for a not-too-troubling ride that can still be a suitable warmup for music arcade antics of the day. Really, if it wasn't for the scrolling speed changes, one from the Taiko 7-14 years might mistake it for an 8* Oni straight outta the 2nd Taiko generation! If that's not enough, the post-World Championship 2024 climate of July '24 has retrofitted Qutabire's winning entry with a top-starred Ura Oni sporting a balanced blend of charting gimmicks, from soft scrolling changes to 1/24s spikes spliced in.
