Following up from Nijiiro Version's grand launch and our recently-published SotW entry about a contest-debuting track, it's right about time we have a separate post to talk about the song contest that just launched alongside the new arcade release, available at this link.

Nijiiro Version is among us, at long last! With that is also coming back the last-gen-kickstarted trend of organizing public song contests in order to adopt new original songs into the Taiko family.

First Video: Zoku Shimedore 2000 and Taiko Session (Ura)

Both arcade and PS4 players can now test their own skills on the second medley of the Taiko no Tatsujin series' infamous '2000' songs, picking up from Joubutsu 2000 to PS4's Waraeru 2000 while also splicing in the two more recent April Fools' tracks for the series!

Only on PS4, however, is located a returning Namco Original from the PS2-era games, now geared up with a low-notecount 9* Ura Oni that enrolls a bit of every tempo signature for its clusters to better suit the jazz piece. Also noted in the grid before is the newly-added Kantan mode, as Taiko Session's first (and only) venue up until today -the 2nd PS2 game- lacked it.

Not even one full day has passed since the release of Bakumatsu Ishintan -the latest song from INSPION's Daisuke Kurosawa and Masahiro 'GODSPEED' Aoki- and here we are, not only with a long version announcement for it, but also the other two Taiko-fueled collab pieces before it as well, Dairokuten Maou and Tenka Touitsu Roku!

All three tracks, alongside the song GIGA GRIVE from Chunithm and several brand new tracks will be featured in the artist's third album, BLACK ALBUM 3, available for purchase from May 6th.

Taiko no Tatsujin Nijiiro Version Update Post

The future is finally among us! The first in the next line of Taiko arcade installments has finally arrived, with its fair share of launch-day goodies that are sure to delight every kind of player our there. While our song list page for the title is nearing its completion, we'll use this post to keep you updated on everything Nijiiro Version has in storm for its opening.

Please bare in mind that we're going to use the old genre icons for this entry, for the time being. We'll decide in a later date how we shall address the song genre change in a later day, and letting you informed of the changes we're going to implement concerning their adoption.

CoroCoro Channel's Exclusive Preview on Taiko no Tatsujin Nijiiro ver.

With their ties with game and toy makers, CoroCoro Comics frequently gets dibs on exclusive initial scoop for Taiko no Tatsujin and other kid-friendly games... as always. They did one for AI Performance Battle last year.

Just one weekend before the release of the next generation of arcade Taiko no Tatsujin, the CoroCoro editorial again got an exclusive hands-on experience of the new version (special version with a heavily cut song list) for their YouTube channel, but not at any Bandai Namco locations... They got a cabinet hauled to an actual wadaiko performance dojo and slipped in a few wadaiko demonstrations first by a professional wadaiko player, before engaging the pro at a two-player match using Hyakka Ryouran Futsuu (again).

Here are a few outstanding observations:

• 10-combo and 30-combo calls (unknown if exclusive to lower difficulties)
• silver (10-29) and gold (30+) combo numbers (unknown if number is exclusive to lower difficulties)
• approximate points for the first few Score Ranks: 50k for white Iki, 60k for bronze Iki, 70k for silver Iki and 80k for gold Miyabi

Namco Taiko Blog (March 23 2020) - Plan For Your Rainbow Landing: Start Dash 2020 Campaign and more

Any self-respecting game with online update capabilities should have a plan for continuing content after the initial release, and the 4th-generational version of the arcade Taiko no Tatsujin (nicknamed Nijiiro ver.) has not failed at this front.

The main new addition is the Start Dash 2020 (スタートダッシュ2020) campaign, an unlockable-item bonanza exclusively for users of Banapassport or other supported Amusement IC cards. Every credit on Nijiiro ver. will grant you 10* exclusive medals for the campaign, and every 10 medals* rewards you with either a song, Taiko sound or outfit item to your Donder profile. The full reward list is after the jump.
Addendum (2020/03/25): The medals are given in units of 10s in-game.

This campaign will start on March 24 2020 with the release of the new version. While it is intended to be a time-limited event, there is currently no definite ending date at this moment (guess why), so Donders are encouraged to play only when you are available.

Meanwhile, Donders are reminded that it may take some time for the Donder Hiroba to reopen after the version change, due to the work needed to port the Donder profile data.
