[PS4/NS] A Tokyo Divided in Rap Marks Two Games United in DLC

Both Taiko no Tatsujin Session de Dodon ga Don (PS4) and Nintendo Switch Version are getting the same song as DLC on September 5 2019, by the price of 150 yen plus tax:

PS4/NS DLC Song: September 5 2019

Title
Hypnosis Mic -Division Battle Anthem-
ヒプノシスマイク -Division Battle Anthem-/Division All Stars
★?★?★?★?
Key: red = series debutblue = console debut

The song is for the eponymous rap production multimedia project originating from 2017 featuring 12 male rappers divoded into four locality divisions.  Currently there is no further pretense story from the other side.

As additionally noted by the official Taiko no Tatsujin Twitter feed, the full version of the song will be used; guess it is hard to cut up the song when most of it is solo portions for each of the 12 rappers. That makes the 5.5-minute song the new longest playable song in Taiko no Tatsujin ever. Whether it will break more "Taiko Guiness" records (like highest notecounts etc.) is unknown until actual release.

Also unknown of whether related to the immense length and storage of gameplay data, this is also the first song on PS4 to NOT be compatible with the game's specialty modes of Friend Session Performance, Taiko Ranked Match and Best Replay Performance. There is no restriction on Nintendo Switch Version's Don Katsu Fight mode, or normal local two-player sessions on PS4.

Namco Taiko Blog (August 22 2019): A Second Late-summer's Picking of Sprouting Green ver. Collab Teasers feat. a Second Kingdom

Turns out that yesterday's post was not the only collaboration scoop we have for this week. This shorter Namco Taiko Blog post lets us have all the details.

If you know some things about JRPGs, you should likely recognize Ni no Kuni (ニノ国), the hit JRPG series by Level-5. On occasion with the eponymous animated movie (link to official site) coming out on August 23 2019 (tomorrow), Taiko no Tatsujin Green ver. will add the movie's theme song to the default song list on the same day:

Green ver. New Song: August 23 2019

Title
MOIL Keina Suda/Ni no Kuni
  須田景凪 映画「二ノ国」より

Key: red = series debutblue = arcade debut

However we might have misled you with the title, because the said collaboration (link to special page) is actually not with Taiko no Tatsujin but Namco's arcade/amusement attraction business. So while the Taiko no Tatsujin involvement ends here, here are two more things Namco has for you:

  • After watching the movie, show your ticket stub to participating Namco arcade location staff for a free postcard featuring one of three designs based on Ni no Kuni the movie (while stock lasts)
  • Ni no Kuni buttons available in prize machines starting from late August 2019

First Video: Argent Memories

Geared with a notechart set bearing the same difficulty ratings as Roca Roja from 3 months back, K Masera's latest vocal-assisted contribution to the Taiko franchise plays out like a diet version of Taiko Time-reminiscing backbeat clusters with some odd timing cluster spike and a more complex cluster halfaway through the play.

As a side-note, the title-dropped inclusion of Senpuu no Mai in this month's PS4 song pack consists of both variants of the song -Heaven and Earth- as separate tracks, with no rating changes for both.

Roughly one month is left between us and the next 2000 song release!

A Late-summer's Picking of Sprouting Green ver. Collab Teasers

It's about time for some limited time collaborations on the Green ver. firware to spice up your Donder life! Note that both of the campaigns are just on teaser status for now, and you should stay tuned for more details (by official channels, or us!) if you are interested.

First up, as the header image should hint, is Sanrio's Gudetama (ぐでたま), currently only teased with a special page on the AC0 main site and an explicit collab period (September 4 to October 7 2019).

The main collaborative happening is the addition of two songs to the AC0 song list, and then the chance to win collab-branded merch just by playing those songs. Further details are slated to be released on August 25 2019.

These Gudetama x Taiko no Tatsujin merch could be yours! (what other countries)

If you feel too groggy (geddit?) after the first collab, then how about letting some energetic idols to cheer you up? Particularly nine of them?

After a well-received collab in 2018, the idols from IDOLiSH7 are returning to Taiko no Tatsujin scene in 2019 (no approximate date/timeframe given). In addition to the usual new song additions, expect the grand return of Taiko no Tatsujin Cheering Squad (太鼓の達人応援団) with four new members joining the festive fray. If you are well-versed in IDOLiSH7 lore, maybe you can guess who they are from the new silouettes in the teaser tweet above?

First Video: Dreadnought

Coming from the hands of two recently-active-in-Taiko artists from the BMS scene, Dreadnought is the latest Variety pick to come in two different Oni flavors to taste: a 9* pure 1/16 chart with long drumrolls to boot and a more aggressive Ura Oni variant with interlocking timing signatures for longer clusters and some hand-holding action between a Don note stream and some scrolling speed escalation time.

Pick your poison!

Twitter Snippets (19 August 2019) - BMS Joint Crusade

I'll refrain from making any popular Youtuber references (as I've already done so in the Discord group) and just state the core of today's news: xi and nora2r's Dreadnought is approaching Green Version arcades fast. So fast, in fact, that's it's coming out tomorrow, no less!

Song of the Week! 17 August 2019

Time for a blast to the past, as we spotlight a couple of elusive Namco Original tunes from the 2nd Taiko gaming generation. Both tracks share the same composer, no less!
