We've come to a point where licenses across all version of Donderful/Rhythm Festival's Taiko Music Pass getting removed is a monthly occurrence, most of the time pertaining the oldest ones with former "permanent releases" on previous entries but often times leaving the freshly-departed arcade-exclusives in the process. No matter the kind of removal, however, each of these removal rounds for a while have been brought along with a trea a-la "stick and carrot" approach: a debuting Ura Oni setting for another track across the Music Pass's gigantic catalogue. Two days ago, it was the turn of this arcade-spawn Pops piece to shine!

Surges is the name of the song featured in Kaga Hajimaru. (夏がはじまる。), a 2021-released web-CM short for Otsuka Pharmaceuticals's Calorie Mate agonistic reintegrators product line. Almost 9 years after the release on Blue Version of the Vocaloid song Asu no Yozora Shoukaikan, this is the second track in Taiko from the nicknamed Orangestar, starring his own spouse -the nicknamed Kase (夏背)- as one of its lead singers, alongside the art-named Ruwan (ルワン). Debuting on the original Taiko Music Pass for the Switch version in early June 2023, this was also one of the Pass licenses that had to wait a little more before it could be implemented for the late-2024 PC/modern console ports of the same game, joining one month later in Novembre 2024 instead.

Since this past Thursday, however, both Rhythm Festival-versed party can enjoy one more elusive top-starred chart for the Pops genre, complementing the pre-existing Oni's cluster-dense challenge. If you're wondering how fast-talking tracks a-la Many wow bang! could be charted in the current year, look no further than the Oni offerings from Surges... its Ura even comes with a tough-as-nails hitballoon a-la Hole in the Wall of Muscle March fame!
