The business of pre-emptive song inclusions to the general public before the coming of a main set of arcade Ranking Dojo trials is a relatively new thing, one which ongoing track record of spotlighting newcomer artists goes hand-to-hand with debuting originals alongside "Namco Original veterans" of all times. As we're about to hear about the latest tunes from xi/D-D-Dice/USAO as weekend warriors before their respective proprietary trial is released, another song in 2022 appeared a couple of weeks before the launch of the Nijiiro Ranking Dojo trials and its Shodan course, which is the one unfolding upon your very eyes here!

This is the story of a duo of online-active musicians -guitarist Yuri Minami (from JP indie band Lost in the Fog) and vocalist/illustrator Nene Akagawa- who started working together since 2016 in a number of alternative pop units under the saihate records label, at first as tokyo babel and then with the ongoing Alice Schach and the Music Orchestra (Twitter; official website; YouTube; SoundCloud). While both leading unit members have had their own individual works in their own style to lash out in either music-making or character arts, both these individual knacks merge together as members the Alice Schach act, with dedicated self-produced storyboards/music art (and guest-made MVs to boot, as of late!) and the adoption of a self-made language for all of their songs: the so-dubbed Alician (アリス語).

This unique Music Orchestra also left their mark in music gaming with both original compositions and remixes, counting among such housing parties Arcaea (Maze No.9, Give Me a Nightmare), Deemo (A Little Servant), CHUNITHM (Pygmalion no Jumon), Nostalgia (Akasha no Hibun, Bad End Syndrome) and Lanota, whose Apocalypse has been adopted as its de-facto main theme. Some of the pre-existing music portfolio from the act was also subject to rhythm gaming adaptations in their own unique cuts, including Mahrahjah (DJMAX) and FEHLT (Deemo). Thanks to Taiko gaming, Kill My Fortune is the latest Alice Schach song to receive such a treatment, starting out as a freely-available song from the act's YouTube channel and dating as back as July 2020 (link)! Later on, the song was included into the act's third album release SCHACH, which came out on October 1st last year.

The strong instrumental lead of the original track also happens to be the exoskeleton for this song's Oni chart, one that hingers more on people playing along the song rather than trying to plan ahead for the execution of overly-complex notechart passages. Thanks to a Weekend Warrior update in mid-July 2023, this has also become the second 'Fortune' Variety song to be gifted a frantic top-star Ura Oni! Although not as speed-brutal as the other Fortune Ura, this one literally offers no room for either rest or special notes- it's just you and the over-thousand-fold of notes to hit accordingly in both 1/16 and 1/24 spacing fashion.
