Song of the Week! 29 August 2020

Last week, we've had the "problem" of finding a different song topic to tie in the latest Weekend Warrior artist with something that is not a former Taiko song or a related composing colleague of sorts... which definitely is not the case for this week's creator- there are several t+pazolite tracks we can still talk about!

Today's tune, in particular, also bears one interesting tidbit we failed to discover, earlier this month.

Making its debut on Yellow Version as a Rewards Shop unlockable treat, Kawatare-doki no Yuuwaku is quite the interesting specimen, starting from its rather peculiar title. The expression Kataware-doki refers to the rather-dim atmosphere you get at dawn where its low lighting barely enough to figure out someone's physical apparel, which combined to the word Yuuwaku (lit. 'Temptation') leads to the message of the alluring drive to meet people when the surrounding barely help anyone into distinguishing one individual from the other. Just recently the title also got an official English translation as 'Temptation before the Dawn'.

For the longest time, it was heavily speculated online that is song is somehow related to the maimai series' infamous boss song Our Wrenally due to the similarities in both melody and BPM, however this was never confirmed by the artist to date. What we know for certain, however, is that this song got just recently an extended version release for the EP album NGHTSHFT, which was released 10 days ago on August 19th. Not only that, t+pazolite himself uploaded such extended version on his own Youtube channel as well (link)!

The Oni notechart of the song is yet another false-heavy-hitter with quite the miniscule note count among modern 9* candidates. Aside for select 1/16 clusters in quick succession for some slow-scrolling dense fragments a-la Venomous Ura, the whole song is charted accordingly to the main melody in quite the mild manner, with an halved BPM value being applied for the entire play.

Quite the different story, on the other hand, is told by Kaware-doki no Yuuwaku's Ura Oni counterpart, where things get exponencially trickier by combining a Ka-leading note approach with 1/24 clusters and a way more pushing drumming punctuation that leaves little to no quarter in its busiest portions. Despite the x0.75 scrolling modifier being applied to most of the performance, you've better get ready for the final x1.5 push with the last giant notes!
