[Switch] - Introducing the Online Rank Battle Mode

Out of nowhere, the Nintendo Switch Taiko game has just received an update that enables all players to duke it out with the rest of the world!... provided they're subscribed to the console's online tax Nintendo Switch Online subscription model.

The Online Rank Battle (オンラインランクマッチ) mode matches up players in 1v1 matches on all 4 game modes (with Oni and Ura Oni together as one category), featuring a randomly-picked song from a set of 10 songs that rotates weekly and includes both default and DLC picks. And unlike the ongoing PS4 game, these are actual live online multiplayer matches, instead of challenging other players' ghost data!

Winning matches in any of the modes will enable you to rank up under that specific mode setting, which in turn will net mode-related customization avatar parts to match your square-shaped icon that is used for online matchmaking purposes. If you watch the video above or you're heading to the mode's dedicated website page, you can even see some of these parts in showcase!

As we speak, the Online Rank Battle mode has only been added to the Japanese version of the game. Will Western fans have to wait as long as the great Donkatsu Fight stall? Addendum: "No" is apparently the answer because we have confirmation that the update is available worldwide immediately.
