To put a nicer close-up to the Taiko portable scene for the year 2016, today is being released a slew of new features that for one make up from us a post big enough to warrant its own jump cut!
1) Challenge Mode (iOS/Android)
A new time-limited mode has been added for everyone to enjoy for free! In the Challenge mode, players will attempt to fulfill the trials launched by the Wada Don family members in order to receive permanent song unlocks. In a recent tweet from the Taiko Team, we can also see that this mode will boster map navigation as well!

For Challenge mode's launch, these will be the five featured songs. Clear their trials before the end of February 1st, 2017 to claim those songs as permanent unlocks!

While the Pikotaro Youtube hit is available in both versions of the app, the Apple one is getting dibs on a couple of songpack-related deals! The first of which is the Super Luxury Pack (超豪華ぱっく), which brings in 9 of the most recent and popular licensed tracks from the GTH mode, together with a brand-new addition by Radwimps whose video is showcased further below:

The last addition to this year-end lot is the creation of four different discounted song packs in the Bargain Pack Set (お買い得ぱっくセッ) line, featuring some of the former packs being condensed into bigger pack sets for a cheaper price. The content of this pack sets isn't revealed on the main website, but we'll update the song list pages as soon as we have more details about those from iOS players.
