In this First Video feature with a twist, amongst a cooldown of Taiko no Tatsujin news, we look at the expy of two fan-favourite Namco Original songs into Namco's newer arcade rhythm game that is Synchronica.
エンジェル ドリーム Angel Dream (4/10/15; 633 combo on Technical)
Unlike in Taiko no Tatsujin where the base percussion is more often the focus, a Synchronica notechart for vocal songs like Angel Dream takes more cues on the vocals and the main melody, and hence may not feel close enough to the original 8-star.
That doesn't mean the complexity tops low, as the Technical notechart still asks for rather advanced skills like maintaining long Hold and Move notes on one hand alongside other patterns with the other.
宇宙SAMURAI Uchuu SAMURAI (5/11/16; 703 combo on Technical)
Unlike Angel Dream, Uchuu SAMURAI's core is pure instrumental, so literally all of those 8 stars are fully reflected onto the Synchronica notechart. A major difficulty spike happens at the chorus and ending (original Go-go Times) where players have to actually get both hands on to take on those streams of Touch notes one by one, and not just use that fancy slide-across technique to "cheat" over a string of a number.
This video also shows the new Taiko no Tatsujin-themed markers and sound effects! Although like so many other collabs where Taiko no Tatsujin sound effects are involved, they are your same old Taiko "don" and "kat" sounds.
