Namco Taiko Blog (27 March 2014) - Taiko no Tatsujin x Mario Kart Arcade GP DX collaboration!

マリオカート アーケードグランプリ デラックス

A promotional event about two of Bandai Namco's latest arcade games started yesterday, being the main topic of today's first Taiko Team blog entry. But even if this event is labeled as a mutual collaboration, only the Nintendo-based racing game is going to earn new content...

As already known from the Internet, the latest Mario Kart arcade game features palette swap for several character as unlockables. It's no surprise for our Taiko-related driver Don-Chan, which already has one of its many outfits -the Strawberry Don-Chan- as one of the many unlocks for Banapassport players!

WHat's new this time is that another outfit for Don-Chan can be unlocked by playing on Taiko Momoiro during this promotional period! From yesterday until May 18th, a new palette skin is unlocked by playing at least once with the two arcades by using a Banapassport card. Taiko 3DS players will have fond memories about this one...

The outfit unlocked is the Hero Don-Chan (勇者どんちゃん), hitting the road with a new power-up for the players called the Don Shield.

By playing a second time on both Taiko Momoiro and Mario Kart Arcade GP DX during the promotional period, 30 extra Mario Coins are awarded to the players to get even more unlockable content through an in-game gacha.

Needless to say, the chances to find this collaboration's content in the international models of GP DX are really slim, but maybe a future software update may integrate this content in other ways...
