Namco Taiko Blog (29 January 2019) - End-January's Blue Ver. Update

We already knew of the Tenkaichi Otogesai Finals' Namco Original song reveal coming in two days, but apparently this update for Blue Version cabinets will also bring in a little something more..!

Across Japan/Twitter Snippets (January 27 2019): Unexpected Human Rights is Unexpected: Tenkaichi Otogesai 5 Songs in Blue ver. Asia

I know many of you don't read the Korean language, but the visual context should be enough to deduce what is up.

Reported by this Korean Donder on January 27 and confirmed by our aquabluu/pikaby today (January 28), the four song additions for the fifth Tenkaichi Otogesai has since been added to the Asian cabinets of Taiko no Tatsujin Blue ver. without official announcement on the official Asia ver. Facebook fan page so far:

The peculiarity comes when wikihouse commenters noted that these songs still has NOT made the public appearance to all arcade centers in Japan, still exclusive to the participating JAIA shops as of the writing of this. I... I don't know what to make of this now, really.

Well, at least the Japan front has Tenka Touitsu Roku confirmed for public debut on January 31. No word on whether Blue ver. Asia ver. will follow suit on that for now.

The latest addition to the Anime genre on the PS4 Taiko game comes in with repeated compond-cluster-based sections at the beginning and at the end, requiring a bit of thought into proper hand-switches for a Full Combo claim. Now, only one month is left until the turbo-trash's coming-

Amusement IC: A New Challenger Appears

Thanks lilyquil for relaying this on the Discord.

If you know your arcade gaming lingo, you should remember that the NESiCA is Taito's proprietary arcade IC card brand for use in titles like the Groove Coaster series. Announced today (January 22) is that Taito will soon join in with BNEI, Sega and Konami and make the NESiCA compatible with the Amusement IC specs. The new Amusement IC-supported NESiCA cards will be on sale starting February 14 2019.

While it is a no-brainer that Taito will be retrofitting Amusement IC compatibility to existing, the only title that is confirmed to support Amusement IC cards is the upcoming Street Fighter V Type Arcade coming March 2019. I guess maybe it might take some time before you can just use one card to play all matches for a Tenkaichi Otogesai circuit...

Back to Taiko no Tatsujin, a reminder that only Blue ver. and up has support for the Amusement IC specs, so you cannot use an Amusement-IC NESiCA card to play Yellow ver. or earlier. Old NESiCA cards (without the Amusement IC logo) also still cannot be used to play any Taiko AC0 version.

Song of the Week! 19 January 2019

We often talk about a collection of songs being grouped as a music game-exclusive series, so... how about a boundaries-crossing song series feature, for a change?

First Video: GO GET'EM!

Even though being a delightful jazz composition in its own right, GO GET'EM! has been speculated to be a replacement for the since-deleted Groovy Duel. The comparison is unfortunately accurate with the notecharts revealed today. But first, a united cheer from the Donders outside of the topmost tier because the eleven-song streak of ★10 Namco Originals on AC0 Blue ver. (from Seiten no Reimei to ARMAGEΔDON) is finally broken!

Notecharts to jazz tunes can usually be identified to be either melody-based or percussion-based: Groovy Duel is cut in the middle with a piano-based first half and then a percussion-based latter half, while junction and Taiko Session ~Live Version~ has sections of each intersecting each other. GO GET'EM! has the two charting concepts cleanly split between the Regular and Ura notecharts. Regular Oni is charted mostly in 16th, with some parts quite deserted but can have complex long streams concentrating in other parts. Ura Oni meanwhile includes a more significant handful of 24ths and even clusters throughout, pushing it to a high-★9.

Note for Title Hunters: Full Combo titles for the Regular and Ura Oni notecharts are Melodious Donder (メロディアスドンだー) and Rhythmical Donder (リズミカルドンだー) respectively, confirming the above concepts to be conscious decisions. Full Combo-ing both notecharts at the same time in two-player gameplay gives both players the addition title of Session Master (セッションマスター).
