[DF] July '25 Taiko Music Pass songs (1/2 + 2/2) and Nursery Rhymes/Popular Songs Pack

Just like this soon-ending June, eight songs are scheduled to come to the TMP service next month, with the first four-fold delivery happening next Thursday. From licensed debuts (with non-covers on toe!) to formerly-arcade-exclusive April Fools treats and one of the closest 10* Oni not to be rated as such, there's a little something for everyone... Not to mention the obligatory "reparations-for-Music-Pass-deletion " Ura Oni debut of yesterday!

Icing on the cake is the reveal of a children-friendly song pack for all versions, the first one made of songs that are currently not available in the Taiko Music Pass! As the title suggests, it's made of nursery rhymes and other children-friendly tunes, some brand-new and something harking as back as the PS2 days with Furusato and Fuji no Yama (Fuji-san in the final PS2 game) from the physical-rehabilitation arcade machine Taiko RT Nippon no Kokoro.

Arknights x Taiko no Tatsujin Promo Video

The other end of the collaboration bargain between Bandai Namco's flagship music game series and Hypergryph's Arknights tower-defense game is now public knowiledge, with the reveal on Bilibili of a time-limited outfit for the players of the gacha game to acquire. This is for the 4-star Vanguard operator Myrtle, available on sale in the coming weeks.

Why this might be relevant on our end is how later on the same PV we also got brief art snippets of what appear to be more Taiko-affine cosmetics, and more specifically Petit Chara and full-body outfit combos pertaining the same Myrtle and another couple of operators, chibi-fied for the skin: Skadi the Corrupting Heart (not to be confused with Skadi the icecream-loving goddess) and Mizuki. Whether these will become unlockable for Nijiiro players or not, however, only time can tell...

Song of the Week! 12 July 2025

Today's SotW topic has made a drastic pivot halfaway this week due to the fortuitous circumstances surrounding the target song's composer at hand! It also doubles as one of the lucky parables in life where diligent assiduity and tenacity are rewarded, at least in music gaming...

Keigetsu Production Update: Notechart Preview and 3rd Community Poll

Together with the 2025/07/04 preview trailer to mainland China 4th-gen Autumn 2025 season, Morikawa and Etou from the Taiko Team drops new production updates on Keigetsu (桂月), the upcoming new entry to the Kikyoku/Seasons of Asia series.

The updates are also posted in more languages to the Asia ver. official Facebook fan page the next day (2025/07/05), with alternate YouTube and Questant links for those who cannot access the mainland China links.

First of all we shall conclude the 2nd community poll about the notechart direction for a small part just before the chorus. The majority of respondents have chosen "balance between melody and rhythm", with "melody first" being a close second.

It is at this point that Etou feels appropriate to confirm that Keigetsu will have an Ura Oni notechart, just like all predecessors in the series. With that in mind, the final notechart direction for the concerned mind is as follows:
  • Regular Oni: general balance between melody and rhythm, but melody takes more precedence (notechart preview video embedded above)
  • Ura Oni: explores rhythm and non-melody elements above the general balance

Continuing with the theme of community participation for Keigetsu, you are invited to participate in the 3rd community poll on these two new prompts:
  • Notechart direction for the chorus, whether to be "melody first", "rhythm first" or "balance between melody and rhythm". A free-form response box is also available for your other ideas. To help you decide, take a listen to a 25-second sample of the part, as well as a melody-boosted version and a rhythm-boosted version.
  • Full Combo title for Oni difficulty. You can respond in all the supported languages, but non-Japanese responses may be translated and/or modified. A free-form response box is also available if you want to provide additional context.
The poll is available in five languages for you to pick:

Taiko no Tatsujin (Mainland China 4th-gen) Autumn 2025 Updates

After our stalking attempt three months back, the teased "Autumn 2025" season large-scale update for 4th-generation Taiko no Tatsujin cabinets in mainland China has been dated for 2025/07/15*, as the preview trailer surfaces on official outlets including Bilibili and Weibo.
(*subject to the dongle work done by individual arcade operators)

While we wait for the full update notes, the main additions of the new update (and beyond) include:
  • 19 tracks added (see below jump) including both mainland China exclusives and catch-up with the rest of the world
  • Rolling in Rewards Campaign Autumn 2025 coming soon (no date listed)
  • Ranking Dojo 2025 coming soon in October 2025 (2024 trials will retire in September)
  • Drummers' Square mini-program updates coming soon in August 2025, including Track Collection (similar to Liked Tracks in other regions) and by-track score rankings

Like last season, the preview trailer is also paired with a message segment from Morikawa and Etou (at the end of the same video this time), which we will cover in a separate post.

The circle is closing on last year's Taiko music contest winners! As a testament to that sentiment, here's one of those, debuting on Nijiiro cabs on this very day.
