Taiko no Tatsujin (March 2020 Version Modification Kit) song list

There's no better way to brand the coming of a new arcade gaming generation for the series than calling the precursor of such a generational cap with the very same name that was bore by the very first arcade release for the series... for the second time in franchise history, no less!

Released on March 2020, this on paper is a modification kit that was made to enhance the cabinet and Taiko drum peripherals that were adopted ever since November 2011's arcade successor of Taiko 14; however, the implementation of higher-specs harware components as well as the addition of new and enhanced peripherals are more than enough to distinguish this release from the firmware-upgrade model that has been adopted for the past 9 years's version-change updates, with more new feature/tweaks to boot than the codenamed KATSU-DON's hardware upgrade kit. Much like the just-mentioned 3rd-generation upgrade, this Taiko arcade is referred to by the Taiko Team with a nickname - 'Nijiiro Version' (ニジイロVer.)- which is not treated as its actual title.

While the cabinet's aesthetics don't differ that much from the color-bannered Taiko HD generation, the leap forward is marked by the many and one gameplay tweaks that the new hardware components have brought to the table, starring a custom-tailored variant of the System BNA1 board, a QR code reader for future event implementation purposes and a true 120FPS monitor, reducing the afterimage effect left by the fastest of note-scolling portions as well as sporting an un-matched high hit response rate, when compared to cabinet models of the past. The hardware quality jump is also translated into the implementation of a wider array of gameplay customization features, from finely-tuneable scrolling speed increments to note placement adjustments, just to name a few.

The in-game looks and features of Nijiiro Version are slightly tuned with additions and changes that range from little to wide, such as the vertical-oriented menu navigation that is inspired by the layout approach that was previously adopted by the Nintendo Switch title, while retaining great part of Green Version's former contents as well as returning Banapassport-related features. The scoring system has been overhauled from both the classic combo-based formula from Taiko 7 and the accuracy-tailored Shin-uchi scoring rule, in order to make all song modes lean to the 1-million points ceiling for every song in every mode (barring special notes). While most of the signature modes from the previous firmware have been dumped for the firmware's release, Nijiiro Version's life span also has in plan the re-implementation of many of these arcade-exclusive treats from the past, including the Ranking Dojo mode and Green Version's AI Battle Performance mode.
