Namco Taiko Blog (February 26 2020): Color Me Confused About The Bygones

The Taiko Team is back for another Namco Taiko Blog post only one day after the previous, thanks to a note on the Donder Hiroba that has seemingly left many Donders across Japan in utter confusion.

Right after yesterday's blog post about the song removals on the release day of March 2020 ver./Nijiiro ver. (our coverage, original), Japanese Donders has found that Taik-color is marked for removal on March 24 2020 as well on the Donder Hiroba, like this video shows:

Green ver./March 2020 Ver. Song Removal (?): March 24 2020

Title
Taik-color
タイコロール/steμ feat. siroa
★5★6★7★10

In response to that, Etou comes with Number 11 today to confirm that Taik-color will NOT be available on the new version at release (March 24 2020). This absence, however, is not permanent and the song will be made available again later, even though they are currently unable to give the exact timeframe for its return. All scores and records attained during Taik-color's appearance in Green ver. will be retained.

As for the reason for such absence, it could be summarized to be "Taik-color was not finished when the new version is put into production". A large-scale update like March 2020 ver./Nijiiro ver. requires a lot of effort in producing and assembling the parts, bundling them into modification kits and shipping to arcades all across Japan (and beyond), so the production cycle has to begin way earlier to meet the release date. Composing and notecharting for the new song also takes time on its own right. Unfortunately, the schedules did not match to let Taik-color appear in the base song list for the new version.

Etou further explains to the Donder population across greater Asia that Taik-color will be added in an upcoming version update, fully playable without any temporary absence. That is likely thanks (?) to the fact that Nijiiro ver. is not going to hit greater Asia until later, due to the logistic issues previously mentioned. Yay...?
