Namco Taiko Blog (24 July 2014): Awesome Taiko toys

Today's blog entry is for the announcement of two new Taiko no Tatsujin toys. These aren't your average toys; they're quite the deluxe sets!

The first one is 'Hit When it Lights Up! Rhythm da-don!' (太鼓の達人 光ってたたいてリズムだドン!)

We've seen this toy being shown at a convention before, but it's now out for sale, with a whopping seven rhythm game modes that includes the basic 'hitting the drum faces as they light up' gameplay. There are even four levels of difficulty like in the normal Taiko no Tatsujin, and to top it off, 15 songs to choose from!

Kids songs?

NOPE. Kids songs are only 1/5th of the songlist! The Vocaloid song Senbonzakura is in this, along with Taiko staple Natsu Matsuri, and seven Namco Originals, which includes hardcore stuff like Black Rose Apostle, Dodon ga Don, Taiko Time (yay!) and Hataraku 2000. Interested yet?

Well it's going to set you back 5,500 yen, which is more expensive than a copy of Taiko 3DS2. It should be fine since it looks like they went all-out for the entertainment value and quality of this toy!

You can find out more about the toy here and download a digital user's manual.

The second toy looks like something every Taiko player would have tried to do at least once. Introducing....Air Taiko no Tatsujin! (エアー太鼓の達人)

Experience all the fun of playing Taiko without actually hitting a Taiko! (no one will be held responsible if you break anything else though) The two mics at the bottom make Don and Kat sounds when it detects motion, and there are actually three modes of gameplay with these two special sticks, though it;s mostly just for self-entertainment. I mean just look at this picture.

Find out more about Air Taiko no Tatsujin here. It will be released at the end of July with a price tag!

Lastly, Taiko Team hints that there will be another blog update real soon. Later this afternoon? Let's wait and see.
